Fortnite Store Accepts Crypto – But Only Monero

Developed by Epic Games, Fortnite is an online video game which was launched in 2017. It has a huge fan following. The blockbuster Fortnite game’s fans have good news.

Now, they can buy the goodies and merchandise of the game by making payment in cryptocurrency named Monero (XMR). The game is not yet accepting Bitcoin as a payment currency but, the beginning is definitely for sure. The game creator said that they are not however accepting Bitcoin due to privacy concerns.

The acceptance of the crypto payment is not officially declared by the company yet. Its fans have shared the news on Reddit where people replied to it positively.

Monero crypto lovers are excited about this news; they came ahead and said that this shows the increasing awareness and acceptance for crypto. Epic Games’ Fortnite is one of the most popular online video games at present, with over 200 million registered players.

Its popularity is so immense that as per the poll conducted last year in America covering teenagers, they said they would live to receive rewards in the form of crypto or V-bucks (virtual currency), over cash, gift cards or gifts.

Monero developer Riccardo Spagni has also shared the news on Twitter saying, it is too cool. Fortnite merchandise store now allows people to pay in Monero. Now one can buy Durrr Burger without been judged.

Some crypto observers are surprised to see Fortnite accepting cryptocurrency like Monero when the largest cryptocurrency Bitcoin is not getting accepted.

Riccardo Spagni told media that Fortnite at resent is not allowing bitcoin because of it lacks privacy. However, the game is considering the use of Lightning Network as it restores some privacy. He also said that the Game creators are in ve with Lightning Network, and hence it was hard to convince them to add Monero to their list.

The company pays importance to the privacy it has to assure the safety of data and security amid hacks and news of user data being misused by social media platforms like Facebook.

Cryptocurrencies like Monero and Zcash provide their users with a special feature of anonymity. Users prefer these crypto assets over others for the safety and privacy measures these currencies are offering to their users and their transactions.

However, in December 2018, the US Department of Homeland Security disclosed that it’s building a monitoring program to track Zcash and Monero transactions through a blockchain powered analytics framework.

The move is a part of efforts made by the US government to ensure that cryptocurrencies are used legitimately.

Across the world, the acceptance for crypto has risen with over 900 retailers accepting Bitcoin Cash.
