Bitcoin traded near the $64,000 mark on August 7, 2026, after rebounding from a weekly low of around $62,500 as supply pressure from corporate Bitcoin sales and the Coldcard hardware wallet breach weighed on the market.

As per the recently released market intelligence report by QCP, the cryptocurrency was able to withstand localized supply overhangs amounting to over $214 million within a 72-hour period. The supply pressures faced by the cryptocurrency were mainly due to the public sale of 1,638 BTC for $104.7 million by MicroStrategy and the Coldcard breach, where 1,755 BTC amounting $110 million in value from 5,000 user wallets were lost.

Options Trading Remains Balanced As Short-Term Volatility Slips To Multi-Week Lows

Despite the unexpected crypto-specific supply shocks hitting the spot market, options data indicates that derivatives traders are not pricing in systemic near-term stress. According to metrics compiled on Wednesday, the 7-day and 30-day flat at-the-money (ATM) implied volatilities settled at 28.8 and 32.6 respectively, positioning both metrics near the bottom boundaries of their recent historical ranges. Concurrently, the 90-day volatility index held steady at 37.1, tracking slightly below recent realized volatility curves.

This reduction in base-line anxiety is also shown through the quick reduction in front-end downside skew. This 7-day 25 delta risk reversal considers the premium for put options compared to calls that quickly bounced from a nervous low of -7.39 to a more normalized level of -2.10. It demonstrates that the option market is becoming less willing to pay high premiums for downside protection, differentiating the recent price action from the past panicked hedge strategies.

Notable order prints across major desks include sizable sell-side positions on August $50,000 puts, where market makers are comfortably collecting premium under the assumption that a major breakdown is unlikely. This is balanced by selective institutional buying demand for shorter-dated $65,000 call options.

The overall structural message from the derivatives layout is relatively clear: while Bitcoin’s price action represents horizontal resilience rather than strong upward momentum, the foundational options ecosystem is behaving with a level of stability that indicates the recent selling events have been completely processed by active market participants.

Mixed US Economic Reports And Global Currency Moves Keep Markets Uncertain

The digital asset market’s short-term consolidation occurs against an increasingly mixed global macroeconomic backdrop and evolving international liquidity channels. In the United States, economic expansion indices remain visible, highlighted by the July ISM Manufacturing PMI rising to a four-year high of 55.6, while the corresponding services sector maintained steady expansion at 54.1.

However, domestic hiring momentum has cooled significantly. Government and private reports indicate that JOLTS job openings fell to 7.36 million, while ADP private payrolls added a modest 44,000 jobs as the ISM services employment metric slipped back into contraction territory.

Other than domestic employment data, cross-asset capital flows are showing high sensitivity to complex international currency adjustments. Global fixed-income and currency traders are closely monitoring liquidity parameters following reports regarding Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s notes, which preceded a rare currency intervention by the New York Fed. Operating on behalf of the US Treasury, the central bank executed an unusual maneuver by selling euros instead of dollars to buy up an estimated $5 billion to $10 billion worth of Japanese yen.

This intervention structure highlights deep systemic connections between sovereign reserve management and global bond yields. Because the Bank of Japan maintains ownership of roughly half of outstanding Japanese Government Bonds (JGBs), rising domestic yields are altering incentives for Japanese domestic entities to repatriate capital back home.

This shifting duration transmission channel directly influences the broader global liquidity environment surrounding digital assets. This complex financial landscape is further impacted by delays in domestic cryptocurrency policy timelines. The US Senate entered its August recess without completing its scheduled consideration of the CLARITY Act, effectively pushing the next potential legislative window for stablecoin and market-structure parameters into September.
